Bantam boys' baseball team split a pair of games at the gravel pit known as Pennfound Park to open the 2006.season. Courtice Funeral Home outplayed the boys in blue winning 15-4, as a lot of rust fell off the players in the first game. Jerusalem Lodge regrouped and rebounded with a 13-3 win over Licks from Oshawa in the second game. The first game played long as the two hour curfew was called before six innings were complete. Numerous errors and nervous play rounded out the game as Jerusalem Lodge made it harder for themselves by not being able to make the simple play and get the third out. With new-found confidence, the team opened their second game against Oshawa with much improved play. Cody Smith pitched to start both games and performed well. Opening against Courtice Funeral Home, Smith held his own until the top of the third through the top of the fourth when walks made it tough to find that third out. Jake Van Roessel picked up the ball in the fourth, and the southpaw didn't win over the umpire as he struggled struggled to find the strike zone. Smith climbed the mound to open 1 against Licks with the fire of a gritty competitor in his eye and retired the first twelve batters without giving up a run for his first win on the season. Cody Booth picked up the ball in the bottom of the fifth, and although he gave up three runs on one single and' five walks, he got out of the inning with three strikeouts. Booth then proceeded proceeded to strand one runner in the sixth and mowed down the rest of the opposition opposition batters he faced for the save. The ' game ended in the seventh with two ground outs and a pop up. The Jerusalem Lodge No; 3l team includes Cody Smith, Cody Booth, - Dylan Burnham, Mitchell Johnston, Ryan Racine, Casey Elliott, Robert Matheson, Andrew Lynch, Chris Adair, Jake Van Roessel and Christian Hammond.
