Despite taking five penalties to Whitby's one, the Gaels controlled controlled most of the game with good passing and solid checking and goaltcnding, showing an aggressive aggressive attack and confident defense through most of the game. .Scoring for the Gaels were Luke Keenan and Luke Burghardt with four goals each, Steve Cote with a pair and Owen Maguire and Jake Wynne with singles. Wynne, Burghardt, Keenan, Justin Bragg, Carson Lccours and Erik S trahi added assists. Although Whitby began to put some pressure on the Gaels with three goals in the middle of the third period to make a game of it, and were playing without their starting goaltender, the Gaels showed poise and speed and replied with two unanswered goals in the final four minutes to seal their third straight victory of this young season. ■ Submitted photo Struzina struts stuff BOWMANVILLE -- Leena Struzina, 9, of Bowman- yille, has been tearing up the pool lately. At Top Cup in Etobicoke, Struzina, swimming with the Oshawa Aquatic Club, captured four gold and a bronze competing competing against the best clubs from Ontario and Quebec. She will be challenging the best at the Central Region and Provincial Championships in June and July. Solid start for CLARINGTON - The Clarington Peewee II Green Gaels team has performed well through five games, recording three wins and two losses. The team came out strong against Northumberland . recording a 9-2 and 6-3 wins. In game three, the Green Gaels faced the Peterborough Peterborough Lakers with the Lakers finishing on top with a 4-0 finish. The second loss was against the Whitby Warriors #3 team with an 8-3 finish. The Gaels were back in top form .for game five against Markham. With solid teamwork teamwork and determination, the Gaels landed the win with the final score at 8-3. Team members include Taylor Campbell, Jordan McArthur, Matt Baine, Tyler Blumbergs, Jordan Donaldson, Donaldson, Daniel Michel, Jake Coull, Josh LaLonde, Mat- ' thew Mageau, Malik Yasse- in, Davis Moore, Cameron Breen, Aaron Woods, Bryce Watson, Eric Baird, Brody Harkness. Goaltending is shared by Tyler Cooper and Troy Weiss. The team is coached by Craig Breen and Assistant Coach Yves Mageau. Key sponsors of this team are Berms R Us and Clintar. Timbits take to the soccer field CLARINGTON - Timbit team #3 defeated the Timbit #2 team by a score of 7-2 in Darlington Youth Soccer League play. Submitted photo Race begins for Colts CLARINGTON - Despite the best efforts of pitcher Abbey Lee Hullctt, the Clarington Colts baseball team of the Bowmanville Newcastle Baseball Association Mosquito division suffered a season opening loss to the Port Hope Ksco's by a final score of 16-6.
