Now they sit, after their second consecutive ugly Sunday night defeat, looking like a team that is a shell of its former self. Unfortunately, it's in part because they really are. The injuries are piling up for the Warriors at thé wrong time. In- Sunday's 18-1 drubbing at the hands of the Kitchener-Waterloo Braves, the Warriors were miss-. ing several key players to various injuries, including Zack Greer, who recently returned from a wrist injury, Nick Cotter, Nick Carson and Matt Savoie, all out with leg injuries. Despite the line-up at the infirmary infirmary seemingly growing by the day, Warriors coach Jeff McComb wasn't about to bail his team out when asked about the 17-goal loss. "We were awful,", he said on Tuesday, in advance of their game against John Tavares and the Mississauga Mississauga Tomahawks, (after our deadline). "There are no excuses for playing that way. We had lots of injuries, but there is no hiding we were awful." Brutal showings seem to have become a Sunday thing for the Warriors as of late. A week prior to the Kitchener game, the Warriors were embarrassed in Six Nations by a score of 16-3. McComb hinted that the cause of that might be a focus thing. "They guys are great during the week, their commitment and focus is there," he said. "But the last couple of Sundays that hasn't been there for us and it needs to change." Heading into last night, Whitby only needed one win in their next four games to wrap up at least second place in the league, thus avoiding Six Nations in the first two rounds of the post season. 'That's what we're looking at right now, so we'll see what happens," happens," said McComb.
