Please remember that these facilities are available for all our residents to enjoy, so please make sure you are being a responsible pet owner. We all recognize that our pets are part of our family, and as such I would like to remind you that when taking your pet with you to any of our beautiful green spaces, your pet must remain on leash. To protect your pet from other animals, and to protect ourselves and others, do not permit your pet to roam off leash. Be mindful of the fact that although you think you know your pet, when they are put in a new and strange situation, your pet's actions may not be predictable. As well, we ask that you respect the fact that others who are trying to enjoy the parkland may not be comfortable around animals at all - either when they are leashed or especially when they are running loose. Our Animal Services Officers report that during the warm weather months they are inundated with calls complaining about pet owners not picking up after their pets in parks. Animal waste not picked up greatly reduces the enjoymènt level for other residents, while at the same.time it.creates an opportunity for a health hazard. If you see a pet owner who is not complying with these requirements, please take a moment and politely remind them of their, responsibilities. , y . The requirement for having your pet on leash is not only limited to parks and open green space, but it also applies to anywhere in our community. You must keep your pet under control at all times when the pet is off your property. For further information regarding our Responsible Pet Owners By-law, including penalties for non-compliance, please visit our website at www.clarinqton.net. Remember, responsible pet owners make great neighbours!!!!
