' Durham Regional Police say the man was driving a motorized scooter similar to a wheelchair eastbound on Taunton Road, just east of Townline Road in Çourtice, when he was. struck by a vehicle at approximately 1:40 a.nv Police say the silver Toyota, driven by a 23-year-old Osha- waman, was westbound when it collided with the scooter. The impact occurred in the centre of the westbound lane of Taunton Road. The driver of the scooter was pronounced dead at the scene. Neither the driver of the Toyota nor his 24-year- old female passenger were injured in the collision. The scooter did not have any lights or reflective devices devices on it at the time of the collision. Police continue to investigate, but say that road, weather conditions and alcohol alcohol were not factors in the accident. The identity of the deceased is not being revealed until next of kin are notified.
