Going into the provincials the Gaels were on a six game winning winning streak, having won the Hal- ton Hills Bulldog tournament by posting a 4-0 record and then winning two games against a tough Peterborough Lakers team leading up to the provincials. In the first game of provincials, the Gaels disposed of Peterborough Peterborough for the third time in a row with an impressive 1)-4 victory. They then beat St. Catharines 11-1 and Barrie 13-0. This set up a showdown for gold with archrival Whitby. On a hot, humid day, and before a very large crowd, the Gaels played their best game of the year. The teams traded goals throughout the first and second periods, with both teams . dominating, and leading at varU ous times. The goaltending was outstanding and each team made several spectacular defensive plays to keep themselves in the game. Offensively, the Gaels passed the ball with authority and made their shots count. ' In the end though, the Gaels came out on the short end of a 10-8 score,. Scoring in the four games at the provincials were: Owen Doreenspleet (la), Noah Buckle (2a), Kelsey Bennett (lg, la), Will McCracken (2g, la), Gray- don Hogg (2a), Alex Hotchkiss (8g, 2a), Griffin Tarascwicz (2g, la), Justin Theberge (4g, 3a), Cale Jay (lg, 2a), Brett Chambers Chambers (lg, la), Brent Lace (4g, 2a), Dawson Copland (3g, 2a), Brett Underwood (5g, 2a), Malcolm Malcolm Hurd (4g, 3a) and Riley Girard (6g, 7a). Goaltender Justin Justin May finished with a phenomenal phenomenal goals against average of 4.25 over the course of the tournament, including one shutout. shutout. Coaches Todd Lace, Susan Pipher-Hogg and Rob Hanna commended the players for their hard work and congratulated them on their many successes throughout the year. Overall, the Gaels finished the season with record of 15-7, winning one tournament and finishing second in 2 others. Jerusalem Lodge ups record again BOWMANVILLE -- In the mosquito division of BUSC play, Jerusalem ' Lodge 31 (B2) was victorious over Birk's Landscaping (C1), 6-1. Once, again goal keeper Joel Stevens was outstanding, holding Birk's Landscaping to just one goal. The goal scor ers for Jerusalem Lodge were Taylor Fielding with three, Brett Snowden, Brady. McCann and Stephen Thomsett. It was a strong team effort all around from each member. . Additional players, include Ryan Smyth, Robert Osborne, Brandon Murphy, Andrew Con nell, Mathew Connell, Connor Hart, Mathew Marlowe, Tyler Cleaves, Connor Smith, Austin Ward, Dillon Ward and coach Don Snowden.
