With the start of a new season, however, they posted back-to-back wins. Mind you, there was a lot more to be disappointed about in losing four in a row to the St. Michael's Buzzers in the league semifinal than there is to get excited about following a couple of exhibition wins. Nonetheless, another Provincial Junior A Hockey League season is upon us, and the Eagles are making some early noise they are back and ready to contend for a second straight East Conference championship. championship. , Using home ice to whatever kind of advantage it offers in the preseason, the Eagles beat the perennial tough Aurora Tigers on Friday night by a 5-4 count, and then slipped past the Peterborough Stars 6-5 in overtime on Sunday. Kyle Goodchild provided the game winner winner Sunday, banging in a loose puck in the crease while on the power play for his second goal of the game. Clarington Midget Toros product Daniel McCarthy also counted a pair of goals on the night, with singles to Kris Faric and Brandon Couto. ! Louke Oakley filled the role of play- maker, setting up three of the goals, while Scott Freeman chipped in a pair of assists. The five game preseason schedule continued continued last night in Pickering against the Panthers (after our deadline) and includes a visit to Aurora on Friday. It wraps up Sunday at home to the Panthers at Recreation Recreation Complex Pad A, with a 6:30 p.m. faceoff. ■ To ha\c ♦ITT», your fixers WSj! dclixcrcd In Io|l/ Durham's #1 Carrier Force!
