To the left is the old Cobourg and peterborough Railroad station (near the harbour) and to the right of it is a storehouse in which theatricals were produced during the Provincial Exhibition of 1855. This location is southeast of Town Hall. The water was either held back from the old creek or otherwise brought in from the lake.

Baseball appeared in Cobourg in the mid 1860s when it was imported from the United States. It more closely resembled softball back then and was often in competition for popularity with cricket and lacross. The first Cobourg Baseball Club was organized in 1894.

Aida was about 56' long plus bowsprit and won many races, cruised lake Ontario and the Bay of Quinte under the Carter family ownership. there is a half model in the trophy room at the R.C.Y.C.

This yacht was purchased in the New York city area about 1906 by H.J. and W.E.H.Carter. they sailed up the Hudson River and Erie Canal to Oswego and then to the R.C.Y.C. in Toronto. Here is was sailed and raced extensively until about 1915 when the lead keel was donated to the war effort as was the case with many other yeacts.
