In Style: Dress Fashion of a Young Cramahe Girl ca.1907
Fashion Influences
Specialized high fashion magazines, or journals, illustrated colour prints, often full page, of the latest women's fashions. Women in many rural Canadian communities as well as cities turned to the Eaton's catalogue to view the trends in fashion. Mothers were also interested in outfitting their daughters in clothing which reflected the current tastes. Most women ordered the dress of their desires from Eaton's, but some skilled seamstresses created a sewing pattern based upon the catalogue's illustrations and made their own clothing.
