The other day at Bedworth School. '1 the teacher asked the pupils to write on "Boasting our School." The follow- ing is Laura Davidson's first poetical attempt, She evidently believes great results from her school. "If you come to Kenora District, And want to see the best, Just come and visit Bedworth School It will surely stand the test. Our teacher, who is as neat as a pin, Trims us all if we don't dig in, The Willie's four who attend our school, Work hard at their books and obey the rule, There's John so quiet neat and trim Full of fun right up to the brim, Greta with merry face and shining eyes, May be an artist before she dies, Laura Davidson is a talkative girl, Keeps herself and the rest in a whit! Margaret Trist is very kind And never leaves the tiny tots be- hind, May be a carpenter to carn his bread. Ada Mascetti, with a dimpled cheek Always waits for another to speak. Gladys Evans with a cheery smil May make an orator after Alice Bowman with all her Will be a poetess before she Lila Clausen ne'er says She's gentle timid She grabs her b u joke And gets there jus Little Gwen Evans the bravest of all Comes to school, winter spring, summer or fall, Lily Wilkinson with eyes of blue Is always sure to be there too. Margaret White with her dimpled chin, Is always on hand when school goes in. So work, work, work my comrades, Work hard to win And zlways be as merry As when schoool goes in." LUARA DAVIDSON, Age 12. Bedworth The Annual Christmas Tree at Bed- worth School Friday evening, Decem- 'ber 23, was a decided success, The ' evening itself could not have been bet- "ter, and a great number turned out t to see the programme which was well prepared. Rev. R A Smith, of the Anglican Church, ably acted as Chairman. There were four splendid dialogues, two of which were very comical. The one called "The Paper Angel" caused much laughter, while Doctor Funnybones' Hospital as well as being amusing was educational. The singing was especi- ally well rendered and much thanks is due to Mrs Percy Bicknell for her capable training of the pupils in singing. The teacher and pupils on behalf of the school wish to thank everyone who helped to make the evening a success. We appreciate Mr Smith acting as Chairman, Mrs Bicknell for her organ, Mrs McMillan for her splendid recita- tions, Mr Frank Bicknell for his musi- cal selections, Mr Blake for being door- keeper, Mrs H Wilkinson for her able assistance in dressing the children for the different dialogues, etc., and of course Santa Claus for not forgetting Bedworth school. He seemed to be in good humour and was exceptionally good to the boys and girls, Of course they were all glad to see him, and did not regret at all that this behaviour was of the best the past year. They were a great credit to the school in all their parts. The school looked very pretty and the stage was arranged as a cosy house with fireplace and all, The Star Drill by ten girls excited great admiration. = They were all ar- ranged as fairies with a silver star on the forehead and on their wands. Besides many other gifts the pupils presenter the teacher with a lovely box of stationary, a pen and sealing wax, The whole evening was enjoyed, and everyone went home feeling that it was worth attending. i Tree and Entertainment was held in the School on Thursday evening, Dec. 22nd, when a Concert was given by the school children, Mr McCracken was Chairman for the evening and in opening the concert said he was sure Freddie Bessett who usese his head | | tainment DYMENT-- The Annual Christmas |: everyone would cnjoy the large and | News of the District f= | BEDWORTH--We all agree that there varied program Miss Scott (the teach- er) had got up for them, The programme was then carried out ---Recitations, Songs, Duets, Dialogues Monologues, and the Choruses by the school being all excellently done, Special mention should be made of the Drills, which were acted.
