- Description
- This pin shows the Omemee emblem. The Omemee emblem was designed and drawn by Coleen Sadler in 1974 for the Omemee council. It shows all things relating to Omemee - Mount Nebo (in the back), the old mill, the dam, the bridge and the pigeon in the forefront (the word "Omemee" is based on a Mississauga word meaning “pigeon”)
The Omemee council had the emblem on several items including: pins, mugs, thermometers and even the "Welcome to Omemee" road signs used to have this emblem on them.
Recently (December 2017), this emblem was used on a banner on the stage behind Neil Young for his Hometown Concert in the Coronation Hall in Omemee. The Omemee emblem is now on Neil Young merchandise (the Hometown Concert T-shirts). - Date of Original
