- Seven local charities shared close to $94,000 in extra funding to support programs that assist vulnerable Kawartha Lakes and area residents.
The money was part of the federal government’s Emergency Community Support Fund that was being administered in collaboration with United Way Centraide Canada, Community Foundations of Canada, and the Canadian Red Cross. Earlier this year, the United Way for the City of Kawartha Lakes received $281,682 to allocate to local groups impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. The first round saw $93,875 distributed. - Publisher
