This exhibit explores the history of Portuguese Canadian communities in Ontario over more than 70 years of timelapse. It looks into how Portuguese settlers bonded together to form thriving networks of contact, and how Portuguese Colonial Wars overseas affected the ways Portuguese Canadians contributed to Ontario's cultural diversity and economic prosperity, making the Portuguese Canadian community a significant contributor to a thriving Canada.
The documentation of Portuguese diasporic experiences is important for the public to better understand the formation of Ontario's cultural diversity today. This exhibit consists of digitally documented sources from various databases, organizations, communities, galleries, newspapers, libraries, archives, and many other digital collections.
The photographs and written documents shared here reveal corners and broad representations of Portuguese Canadians' lives.
