- This is a black and white photo of a large group of men. In front of them is a large rock with "N. & A. Dyment's Lumber Woods - Towell's Crew" written on it.
Towell's Camp was located 2.7 kms north-west of the McCreights Bridge on the side of a creek (right side of road) on the way to Shaw Dam Lake. As of 2016, the humps of two of the former buildings are still visible.
- Notes
- While this photo is dated 1890's, local historian J.D. MacDonald reports that Towell's crew worked for Dyment Lumber in the Kirkwood Forest from approximately 1902-1908 in a camp located about one mile northwest of McCreight's Dam (Shantymen and Sodbusters, p.46-7).
