- This is a black and white summer photo of the Burtis Mill site in Thessalon. The photo shows the main mill buildings including the boiler house, and the tramway built on pilings which brought logs into the mill.
The mill pond is seen in the foreground of the photo filled with logs.
- Notes
- Burtis Lumber Co. Mill was built on Carolyn Beach Motel site in 1903. It burned in 1912 or 1913.
Pictured:
Center: Jack-ladder on which logs were lifted into the mill on an endless belt. There is also a domed structure, which was a mill burner to dispose of waste.
Left: Tramway where lumber was piled for loading on ships.
