This kerosene lamp has an adjustable arm that allowed the user to lower arm by lifting the lamp. When the lamp was released its weight kept the arm in place on the lamp stand. This particular lamp was used by a decorative art painter who would have appreciated the quick and easy ability to adjust the height of the lamp as he painted his way down a specific piece. - Notes
