- Description
- From the collection of L. Ringer, 1936 scrapbook by Janet Lemex.
The library also has a full copy of Record News, 23 July 1936 edition in its archives. - Notes
- Record News newspaper clipping, 23 July 1936, p.10. The caption reads: Here's Beckwith street more than thirty years ago. The Russell Hotel and the Washburn Block are clearly shown at the Corner of Main Street but the Rideau Hotel, built in 1901, was still merely a plan in the mind of Charles O'Reilly, its founder, when this photograph was taken. Many of the buildings about the corner where the Rideau now stands are still in use and may be easily identified in this illustration.
