[1‘1 Ir. Knapp’s famous runner 1. i For some time the Turf Club, has been preparing for Dominion Day and their efforts were amply reward- ed on Friday last, when racing of the most satisfactory kind was en- gaged in on the track here. The morning. had a lowering appearence and threatened rain but before ten o’clock the clouds broke, the sun shone forth in all its effulgence and the Club responded with their most radient smiles. Great pains had been taken to put the track in good shape, with the result of a marked improvement on former years, the new road grader had been used with telling effect and “the boys ” rejoiced over the im- proved condition of things. Town horses had been trained for the event and it was hoped that the bulk of the purses offered would be won by local horsemen. However, horse racing is a matter of considerable Speculation, yet Baby Boy, owned by Mr. Robert Scott here carried off first in the 2.50 trot making his mile in 2 111.40 sec. Bob is quite a driver, and kept the little fellow just ahead until nearing the goal when he shot off like an arrow leaving his competitor several lengths behind, and, leaving the crowd in equal ignorance of his real Speed if put to the test.
