Our Exhibition on Wednesdav. the 12thxinst. was quite a success but as the Editor was there it relieves us of saying anything further about it; only Providence made dry weather for the occasion in the afternoon for we the good people of Priceville are The old teachers have been re-en- guged in our lechool for 1899, viz: Mr. Blakeston and Miss Derby. We are not positive but we think Miss McCannel is again re-engnged at Top Ciifie schoot for the year 1899. Mr. Charles McDougall, of Michi- gan, a former resident of this place, is visiting friends in and around Prioeville at present. A meeting of the Tract and Bible society will be held. in the Presby- terian church in this village on Fri- day evening, the ‘ZIst inst, at 7: 30. The Rev. Mr. St1achan agent of the Society will eddiese the meeting. We saw the Pomona penman on Show day. We expect. a. visit from him soon in his Official capacity, We saw a number of our township and COi nty officials at our fair last week viz: Messrs Binnie and Mc- Kinnon, commissioners South Grey, and Mr. Watson from East Grey. We hope to see them all returned to the end of 1900. George Lamb was 011 hand and is again to be one of the candidates for municipal honors in Glenelg at the coming exection, As Mr. Lamb was only one vote behind last year he claims to be entitled to receive enough at the coming elec- tion t; secure him a seatat the Council Board in 1899. John A. McMillen of course is sure of a seat and we hope to see the Council more evenly divid- ed then they were in 1898 through out the whole municipality. A! tem- esia is always quiet on account of each ward having to elect their own municipal officers. We do not hear of any opposition to our represent- atixe in Pricewlle ward, but it is yet a little premature and we will haye to wait till election day, There was a little scramble on Show night of a tumble down nature. Should Prohbition take efiect the contracting parties will prove to be jolly good fellows. We noticed a. week or two ago a re- quest from the Editor asking Cors. co send in something short and Spicy to the Chronicle. We do not claim to be a correspondent from this place but we do claim and know it for a. fact that Priceville has been neglec- ted and almost manus a. correspondent for the last 1:3 months. “ Is there no balm in Gilead,” etc., or are there no writers in Priceville? Yes, lots of them, but whose business is it to take uptu himself to be correspond- ent? D. A'cNichol Esq., Ex M. The inclemency of the weath- er on opening days kept many of the ladies at home. but since the remrn of sunshine the milliners and their assistants have been kept busy showing and disposing of their works of art, The down pour of rain on Tuesday last week interfered with the completion of the East Grey Fair.
