THE Lime Juice Minstrel Club gave asuccessful entertainment-at Tees- water on the evening of Dominion Day. The attendance was good and the performance was well reoioved. An invitation has been given the boys to go to Harriston, but we un- derstand they have not yet decided to accept. The proceeds at Tees- water amounted to something in the neighborhood of sixty dollars. They were guaranteed fifty dollars. DOMINION DAY was not observed as a holiday 1n Durham this year, but during the day the stir about town was not very exciting. In the even- ing; however, the streets were throngel, as they always are on Sat- urday nights, and most of theistores appeared busy until between ten and eleven o’clock. Persons in town during the day have very little con- ception of the throng and bustle that may be. seen here every Saturday night. t. THE annual picnic at Allan Park, was held on .Friday afternoon last. Like most of its predecessors it was largely attended, and a pleasant and profitable reunion was the result. Hanover was largely represented, and a number from Durham were also present The programme consisted of swinging and other amusement», together with a lengthy literary pro- gram of chorus 3s, solos, duets, etc. by the school. addresses by _I_:levs. UJ-v 'I-u-v Craigie and Bray of Hanover, Editors Rumage and Irwin, of Durham, pn- trioric speeches by Messrs. Walker. Taylor, Dr. Jamieson and others. A number of spirited songs were also sung by gentlemen, whose names we have not learned. The meeting was ably presided over by County Com- missioner Brigham who happily in- terspersed the exercises with brilli- ant pleasantries that kept the audience in good Spirits. At the close of the literary exercises other U‘UDU UL BIAV -D-vâ€"â€"Vâ€"~. games Wereentered which we could non wait to witness. The weather was fine and the picnic may be num- ~red as another success.‘ , V F. S. No. 9 added another success- ful picnic to it’s list of annualevents; 1 On Friday afternoon last the resid- ents of the section and others from town and elsewhere found their Way to Mr. McGirr’s grove where a pleas- 1 ant time and a pleasant repast were ‘ indulged in. rl‘he concert at night ; was a pronounced success.
