Having investigated that matter somewhat we learn that the accounts were properly and satisfac~ torily audited by Mr. W. D. Mills, of Durham, and Mr. J. W. Brown, of Hanover. Owing to the wet day and the failure of some contributors to whack up the amounts promised. the club was a few dollars “ in the hole.†We understand it is their in- tention to give the whole itemized statement next week, containing separately the names of those who paid and those who didn’t. Mr. Lewis Ludlow, of Port Huron, a pet pupil of former days, passed through on Saturday, en route to Flesherton to visit friends there. The following experiment recently made at the Model Farm, Guelph, will be of interest to our farmer readers, especially that part of them who unfortunately have had trouble with the worst of all weeds, wild mustard. On Saturday last a plot of about 10f an acre was selected, badly infested with mustard; it was spray- ed with 2 per cent of copper sul- phate. The experiment was entirely successful; the mustard was all killed without injury to the crop. As the mustard plant is an annual, when it is destroyed at this season of the year it is destroyed for ever. The cost of the chemicals used will be very light; 10 cents worth being suï¬cient for one acre, If, as seems almost certain, an easy and effective method has been discovered to erad- icate this king of all weeds a great boon will be conferred on all farmers. There are many firms, not just in this immediate locality, perhaps ten or twelve miles from this village, where the mustard has taken com- plete possession of many ï¬elds ;~ to farmers like these this easy method of er‘adicating-it:will be a welcome boom.- 7___â€"._ Miss Maggie Macbonald is still on the sick list.
