The entries in some lines were a little short of last year, but the Show on the whole was good. In the hall the exhibit of ladies’ work though not as large as last year was fine in quality and highly praised by some who had been judges at other flairs. There were some fine sam- ples of grain and the dairy depart- ment contained some very choice but- ter. In roots, fruits and vegetables the display was good and contained some very fine samples. There was a very tempting display of bread, pies, cakes, pickles and canned fruit, and also to the eye a very pleasing allow of foliages, flowering plants and cut flowers. Mr. W. H. The only improvement we saw about the Durham Show this year was the increased admission fee. Surely the directorate can furnish something better in the way of amusement than what they had this year, and surely they can find a bet- ter use for the people’s money than for whiskey for judges, etc. And so a Chronicle correspondent would have Wm.
