WHEREAS in eatimating the probable cost of certain public works or improvements in the Town of Durham, and not included in any local improvement Byolaw therefor; certain of the cost thereof had been overlooked or underestimated. by the Council of the said Town of Dur. ham, and it became necessary for the said Council temporarily to borrOw the money required to pay for the said public works or improvements from the Standard Bank of Canada. in the said town of Durham, which debt to the said Bank it is intended to pay off out of the proceeds of the Debentures to be issued under this By-law. AND WHEREAS it is deemed ad- advisable that the said Municipal Council of the Corporation of the Town of Durham, should pay off and satisfy the debt so due or owing to the said the Standard Bank of Canada. which debt amounts to the sum of $4500.00 or thereabouts. AND WHEREAS in order thereto it will be necessary to issue Deben- tures of the said Municipality for the sum of $4500.00 as hereinafter pro- vided (which is the amount of the debt intended to be created by this By-law) the proceeds of the said De- bentures to be applied to the purpose aforesaid and to no other. AND WHEREAS it is desirable to issue the'said Debentures at one time, and to make the principal of the said Debentures repayable by yearly sums during the period of twenty years. being the currency of the~said Debentures; said yearly sums being of such respective am- ounts that the aggregate amount payable in each year for principal and interest in respect of the said dent shall be as nearly as possible equal to the amount so payable in each of the other nineteenfiyears of the said period (as shown in Schedule “A” hereto annexed). AND WHEREAS the total amount required by "The Municipal Act” to be raised annually bv special rate for paying the said debt and interest as hereinalter provided is $345.94. AND WHEREAS the amount of the Whole rateable property of the Town of Durham. according to the last revised Assessment roll thereof is $601,153.0U. AND \NHEREAS the amount of the existing Dehentnre debt of the said Municipality is $48,078.01 whereof no sum either of principal or interest is in arrear. THEREFORE the Municipal Coun- cil of the Corpmation of the Town of Durham, enacts as follows:-â€"â€" (1) The Municipal Council of the‘ said Town of Durham. shall expend the sum of $1500.00 in paying off the exiSting floating indebtedness of the Town of Durham. (exclusive of De- benture indebtedness) and for the purpose of raising the said sum. De- bentures of the said Town to the amount of $4500.00 as aforesaid in sums of not less than $100.00 each shall be issued on the day of January A. D. 1905, each of which Debentures shall be dated on the date of the issue thereof, and shall be pay- able within twenty years thereafter at the Standard Bank of Canada at the said Town of Durham.
