Scott’s store. Orley Scott had started the ï¬re in the millinery room stove and went to the cellar to start the furnace ï¬re. On returning up stairs he found a furious blaze in the millinery room and ran across the Street to the mill for help. The school bell was rung and in a short time quite a crowd had gathered, who, by carrying water and shoveling snow in through the windows, soon got the flames under control. but not before the millinery room and stock of millinery were destroyed. The ï¬re did n0t get into the main part of the store, but the goods were damag. ed by smoke to a consrderable extent. The loss is covered by insurance. Orley's fur-lined coat was burned full :,of holes. and Mr. Freeman, who just ,lately bought the building from the Petrie estate, was away in Toronto. gâ€"Leader. The gain each year has been proï¬t- able; and there is already much more than enough excess of gain own cost to pay for spraying ï¬ve years more. Similar gains. though not quite so great, were obtained by farmers under test. carefully checked by the station and by a much larger number who spray ed independently.†~ 1‘ 0-. .â€"'.
