EDITOR CHRONICLE. DEAR SlR,â€"Kindly allow me space in your valuable paper to express my appreciation and sympathy for those who, in time of need, manfully came forward and defended the honors of the Durham Curling Club in the reâ€" cent. umtches with Mount Forest and \Valkerton . Though some may throw slurs at certain members of our club, and try to belittle them in the eyes of the sporting element of our town, who was it rose in their greatness and saved our on defeat ? At the recent watch at \Valkerton, for example, with a thirty-five mile pleasure trip in sight, there were twenty volunteers to play ï¬ve games, while at home, with six games to play, the honor of defending our town club fell on a brave fourteen, some of whom were forced to play two, and even three games against the strongest teams the towns to the south and west could produce, seven men having to play where seventeen might have. \Vhy should this state of afl'airs exist where there is a membership of over half a hundred. who claim to have a fondness for the roarin’ game? Now, it appears to me that if this is the way those who have the pleasure 3 trips are going to stand by our club ‘ when home games are to be played. it will, sooner or later, work destruction for the organization. If the men who take the little jaunts out of town are ashamed to face the music at home, 1 would think it only fair that the brave ones should enjoy the pleasures of some, 01- all of the club’s free trips. Thanking you, Mr. Editor, able space, I remain, Yours very truly.
