D. 1917, commencing at the hour of nine o’clock in the fore- 6. The Votes of the electors of the said Town of Durham shall be taken on this By-law at the following times and places, that is to say:â€" 4. During the currency of the said debentures there shall be raised annually by special rate on all rateable property in the Town of Durham the sum of $135.87 for the purpose of paying the amount due in each of the years for prin- cipal and interest in respect of the said debentures (as shewn m Schedule “A” hereto annexed). 3. The said debentures shall bear interest at the rate of six per centum per annum, payable year- lv at the office of the Standard Bank of Canada at the said Town of Durham, and shall have attach- e‘d thereto, coupons for payment of the said interest. which coupm :- shall be signed by the Mayor and Treasurer of the said Town of Durham. 2. Each of th° said. deben- tures shall be signed, by the Mayor of the said Town of Durham. and by the Treasurer thereof, and the Clerk of the said Town of Durham shall attach thereto the Corporate Seal of the said ‘Munic-ipality. Therefore the Municipal Council of the Corporation of the Town of Durham enacts as folloxvs: 1. The Municipal Council of the Town of Durham shall expend the sum of $1,000.00 in payment of the balance remaining due on the erection and construction of a High School building in the Town of Durham, and for the purpose of raising the said sum.‘ deben- tures of the said. Town of Durham to the amount of $1,000.00 as aforesaid, shall be issued each of which debentures shall be dated on the date of issue there- of. and. shall be payable within ten years thereafter, at the of- fice of the Standard Bank of Can- ada. at the said Town of Durham. 7. ' And Whereas the amount of the Whole rateable property of the Town of Durham, acconding to the last revised. assessment roll there- of is the sum of $624,670.00. 1. That for the purpose afore- said it shall be lawful for the Council of the Municipal Corpor- ation of the Town of Durham to borrow the sum of $5,000.00 and. to issue debentures of the said ' Cor- Therefore the Municipal Council of the Corporation of the Town of Durham enacts as follows: And Whereas the amount of the existing debenture debt of the said Municipality, exclusive of local improvement debts secured by special rates or assessments is the sum of $62,363.59 whereof no part of the principal or interest is in arrears. ‘Dat-.d at the Council Chamber in the Town of Durham this day of January, A.D. 1917. And Whereas it is desirable to issue the said debentures at one time and to make the principal of the said debt repayable by yearly installments .during the period of twenty years, being the currency of the said debentures, said yearly sums being of such respective amounts that the aggregate amount payable in each year for principal and interest, in respect of the said debt shall be as nearly as possible equal to the amount so payable in each of the other nineteen years of said period (as shewn in Schedule “A” hereto annexed) referred to SCHEDULE “A.” in foregoing By-law. shewing how the amount of $135.87 therein required to be raised annu- ally by special rate is apportioned.
