The receipt of a telegram Monday from Varysburg, New York, announc- ing the death on Sunday of Mrs. John Hewson, was a ‘great shock to her sitsers, Mrs. James Kerr of \‘arney. and Miss Jessie Derby of Normanby, and also to her aged mother and other members of the family. While Mrs. Hewson had not been in the best of health for several years, the announcement of her passing was the first intimation the family here hAd that anything serious was wrong and naturally ,was a great shock to her family. Mrs. Hewson, who was before her marriage Miss Annie Derby. was born at Hampden, in Normanby Township. about 68 years ago, the daughter of Mrs. Derby and the late Mr. Andrew Derby.
