Britishers, who deserted from the French Foreign Legion in Africa and are now seeking to work their way across Canada. Marshall, at one time had to swim out into the Mediterranean to escape his pursuers. Martin fled with a com- panion across the desert and man- aged. when almost exhausted with eti‘ort and stam'wlon to reach Spanish Morocco. Martin, 31 years of age. was a bugler with the Royal Engineers at 112 years of age. He was in Germany With the army of occupation. They joined the Foreign Legion for excitement. Dromore (Our Own Correspondent) The Dromore Branch of the Women’s Institute held the June meeting at the home of Mrs. James R. Wilson, 20th con. There were forty two ladies present at the meeting. The new president. Mrs. William Philp presided. During the business part of the meeting it was arranged to provide “first aid boxes" for the.different schools in the W. I. territory. A committee composed of one lady from each school section was appointed to look after this business. After con- cluding the business part of the meeting the ladies were entertain- ed by gramaphone music. A quar- tete was given by four ladies. Mrs. S. Patterson gave a paper on the importance of women’s work in the hxomte and how to get the most out o 1. Monday evening the Ayton Dramatic Club gave their play “And Home Game Tell" in Russell Hall. When the load was off the spreader did not go into place right. One horse got frightened, giving a jerk sending the seat forward throwing Jimmy on to the centre horse.
