Deer Enters Town Limits While working in his garden on the outskirts of Fergus last Thursday ev- ening, Mr. Jared Wesh got quite a surprise. Hearing 3 dog bark, he look- ed up and saw a deer coming grace- fully along and in a single leap clear- ing the fences in its pathway. Some distance behind was a black and tan colored hound dogging its footsteps. So close were they to Mr. Welsh that he threw several stones at the hound in an endeavor to get it to desist but failed. The deer was soon out‘ of sightâ€"Fergus News-Record. trout caught in Ontario was taken Irom the Grand River. It appears this was by no means an exception and there are other big trout in the river. A report in Tuesday's daily, states that Win. Felker of Guelph caught a trout in the Grand River, just above Fergus. on Saturday. It measured 18% inches in length and weighed 2 pounds, 6% ouncesâ€"truly a splendid trout, though hardly equalling that caught two years ago. It would seem that although trout are scarce in the river here, those which remain are old and largeâ€"Fer- gus News-Record. Caller Dam Completed by Next Week By the end of this week the cofler dam at the local works of the W. B. Foshay Company, will be completed. The next step will be the impounding of water in the race, which is dry. Outlets in the sluice gates will be closed and the water raised to normal levels. Machinery in the power house has been re-inspected and overhauled and new equipment installed while the gang of men have been engaged on the work at the temporary dam. Next week Walkerton, Mildmay and Formosa will be served again with power from this station north of Southampton, since the flood, early in April.â€"Walkerton Telescope. Diamond Anniversary of Walkertonites Mr. and Mrs. Charles A. Fox, one of Walkerton’s most highly esteemed couples, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Saturday and Sunday. Congratulations came from friends at a distance, as well as from many in the district. They were married in Kit- chener on May 25, 1889. Since the early seventies Mr. Fox has been well known in Western Ontario as a jewel- ler and Optician.
