The day was fine and there was a splendid attendance of mem- hers and several visitors present. Mrs Young, the delegate to the convention gave a very full report which was most interesting. Mrs. Robert Lawson. the riding director. also added a few words .It was decided at this meet- ing to hold joint meetings with the U. P. O. for the winter months. McGirr's and Mrs. G. Noble’s. Miss May Collinson of Hamilton is a holiday visitor with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Collinson. Art Sullivan, Wallace McDeunid, Cameron McLean, Elvyn McInnis and a number of songs were much enjoyed. A drill and fairy dance by the school were good. A dialogue. “Uncle Hiram’s Cold”. was well acted. closed with a pantomime “Holy Night. Silent Night” given by eight pupils of the senior girls of the school, all pupils of Mr. Cook. dressed in white with crowns of tinsel, making a beautiful picture. The program was climaxed by the appearance of Santa Claus. who left a bag of candy for each child. Mr. Murray Nchol acter as St. Nicholas and ‘did his part remarkably well. The pro- ceeds were $18.00. Mrs. William Hincks spent a few days visiting at her mothers in Markdale. Mr. Burrel from Hanover has pur~ chased Mr. Neil Cameron’s bush and has a number of men cutting the tirn~ for the holidays. Miss Beatrice Smith entertained a number of her girl friends at a birth- :day party on Wednesday evening last. Dr. W. P. Ellis left on Thursday last for' Toronto to be with his son Will. who was operated on on Friday. We hope he will soon recover. _ * Miss Merle Morice is spending Christ- mas holidays at her home in Varney. A large sleigh load of young people attended the school concert at No. 4': school on Thursday evening and report r. good time. Our teachers. Misses Howell, David- son and Johnston and Mr. A. Hinclm have all gone to their respective homes at Goderich, Newton, Bluevale and Priceville to spend Christmas holidays. Miss Beatrice Pinder, RN, of De- troit is spending Christmas holidays with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Finder and other friends. Miss Eunice Tyndall oi Temiscaming.
