The fanning public are taking a firm stand and are very much interested in the welfare of the country and are be- ginning to see a protective policy would be of much benefit to the furthers. _M£. were the speakers of the evening. THE DURHAM" CHRONICLE ”’Glenelg Priceying -'Visitors this week are Mr. and Mrs. James Block of Oak River, Manitoba. to their friends, Mrs. McCannei and sister, Lembton street, and other rela- tives in the surrounding locality. It is a long time since they visited the old homes of their birth and have found many changes since. A car load of McA’rt-hurs from To- ronto, former residents of Prioevme and Glenelg here, were also visitors at Mrs. MoCannell’s and sister’s. Mr. McPherson is home again after spending some pleasant time with friends in Toronto. Sunday was a fine day and afforded opportunity to church goers to be in their diflerent places of worship. The Presbyterian congregation had oom- rnunion and a fairly good attendance were there on the soicmn occasion. The good sermon for the occasion. The Presbyterians of Prioeville had com- munion also last Sunday, so the Great Weather Author favored both congre- gations with beautiful weather showing that the Lord didn’t forget the ancient church of old. . Some one said it was only a habit for some to be regular attendants at' church. That may be, but it is a good habit. It’s a habit to many to stay at home and might be pronounced as a different habit. We notice of late so many deaths from accidents. Before there were such machines as autos, accidents were very few and far between. Election is the general talk at pre- sentâ€"Miss Macphail and Mr. Campbell. Woman is prohibited to speak in the church as stated in the Holy Book, but it doesn’t prohibit them from speaking in the big house in Ottawa; and then to read farther on, if she wants any information, to ask her husband. Luck- ily our 'lady member has no husband. She can talk as she likes without a severe whack from a husband if he were of a different opinion to her views. 80 it will be a good fight be- tween the two as the good old Reform- ers of old are letting the two parties fight the good fight. Many of the different churches will be pleased to come and hear the Rev. John Bell, an old Glenelg boy but now of Rivers, Manitoba, preach during the month of August in Knox church, Dur- ham. It is a good act of the Pres- byterians and Baptists to exchange pulpits, giving each the privilege of Glenelg Township Parliament met last Saturday for general business with Brodie as leader. We are pleased to hear that the ailing ones in Priceville and vicinity are getting better. ‘ beathingotthepastiorsometime inthefuture, durin¢thebmyseuon oflnyincandhu'vest. ms.DtmccnucDonaldanddnuh- tenareexpectedtovisittheoldhome 3t Pricevine. Mrs. Hastie of Holstein also spoke and in- vited the ladies to help with a picnic in Holstein Park on Friday, July 4th.
