Mrs. S l" I (Our Own Correspondent) There passed away on April 29 Mrs. John Grant «nee Caroline Barber), formerly of Varney, wife of the late -‘L“ year. Deceased suffered a stroke of aponlexy and was only ill eleven days. Previous to the stroke she was enjoy- ing the best of health and always made , -nA A‘A ‘OCD V‘-‘ v' v her annual visit wit-h relatives and old neighbors around Varney. She has been a resident of Detroit for over 30 years, a member of First Presbyterian church, Detroit, and a member of Grosse Point Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star. The funeral service was conducted by ’her pastor, Dr. Joseph A. Vance. Twen- ty-eight floral tokens were sent from; friends and the body was laid to rest in Evergreen cemetery, Detroit, on May 3. Friends from a distance were Miss loss one son, Irving Grant and a daugh- ter, Margaret, of Detroit; two sisters, Mrs. John Mowry of Detroit and Mrs. Wm. Henstridge, husband of Isabella Barber, formerly of Varney, passed away on his 87th birth- day. Death came from coal fumes from the furnace.
