Miss Thompson went to Toronto last week, where she will assist in the Missionary Rest Home for a. month. Miss Eleanor Marshall and Misses McAlister have returned to their res- pective schools at Shelburne and Tor- onto. also Miss Esther Petty to Fort Francis. Brown spent a couple of days last week with her daughter, Mrs. W. J. Manary in Toronto. School started here on Thursday with our teachers all on duty. Mr. Clarence Calder of Hamilton was a visitor at his home here at the end of the week. Rev. Mr. Mercer and family returned home last week after a month’s stay at their cottage at Tobermory. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Nelson motored to Toronto on Saturday to spend the week-end. Brownie Irvin is spending a few days with friends in Toronto. Mr. and Mrs. Sitbes and daughter Miss Dorothy Sithes, of Inglewood. are visiting Mr. and Mrs. R. Sim and other friends. A very pleasant time was spent on Monday evening of last week at the home of Mr and Mrs. Arnill when a shower was tendered to their daughter Mrs. Rounding, a recent bride, by the young people of the community. Mr. 'and 'Mrs. Rounding will make their home in Grand Valley. Mr. Jack Irvin of Galt, Spent the week-end and holiday with his par- ents, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Irvin. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Peacock and little daughter Diana, of Kingston, were visitors last. week with Mrs. Pea- c-ock’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. Irvin. The W.M.S. of the United church held their regular meeting on Tuesday. At this meeting they entertained the associate members and the Young Girls' Circle. After the meeting closed lunch was served and a social time spent. The community was shocked on Thursday morning last to hear of the death of Charles Drumm. one of our leading citizens. Mr. Drumm, who had not been well, went to Muskoka for a change. After being there only a few days he passed away very suddenly. The funeral was held here on Satur- day from the United church Rev. Mr Mercer officiating. A very large number of peeple attended. Interment was in Mount Forest cemetery. The floral tri- butes were beautifu'. and numerous. iMr. Drumm was a very public spirited citizen and will be much missed in the tvillage and community. Much sympa- thy is extended to the bereaved wife and daughters. Mrs. Mervyn Beley of London, and Mrs. Norman McLaughlin of Hamilton, and to the other bereaved relatives. Clark Saunders was walking on the railroad track one day last week. He fell and broke his arm. Victor Good- child decided to start school last Thurs‘ day.
