Mrs Eugene Zettler oiWalker- ton who was in the parking lot of the golf course across from the victim’s home said she saw the child alone, walking out of the driveway. The truck was being driven in a normal manner, she The driver said he did not see the child as he drove down county road 1, a half mile west of Wal- kerton. Mr Hudson said, “I thought I heard a thump and then saw through my mirror that there was something on the road that wasn’t there when I came." The driver stopped, found the injured child and carried her into her home. She died in Vic- toria Hospital, London, from head injuries. Twenty-month old Rhonda Perks was not struck by a truck July 23, two days prior to her death, a coroner's jury ruled at Walkerton Thursday. The daughter of Mr and Mrs Richard Perks, RR 4, Walker- ton was either sucked or blown down when the five-ton gravel truck passed close to her and her death resulted from head in- juries received as she fell, the jury said. The jury based its decision on evidence that there was no mark on the truck driven by Garry Hudson, 24, of RR 2, Durham, and that the child was not carried along and tossed of! the road. Crown attorney George Paterson advanced a theory that the child could have been struck by one of the heavy, rubber mudnaps on the truck.
