(Our own correspbndeut.) Miss Frances Nickawa. the talent- ed Cree Indian elocutionist, appear- ed here under the auspices of the Methodist choir on Wednesday ev- ening last and delighted her audi- ence with her rare versatile gifts. In her native costume numbers Miss Nickawa was perhaps most taking but throughout she was charming and met fully all that was eXpected of her. The young elméutionist pos- sesses remarkable gifts and has a very pleasing personality. She has a wire of wonderful range and sang Kentueky Babe with such sweetness as in make‘her audience hunger for other vocal numbers. Miss Nirkawa will be greeted by a large audience should she appear here again. The Ho'Vo'l'o- snow-storm prevented many from hearing her on this ‘oeczls‘ion. Her numbers Wore interspersed with an anthem by the choir, splendidly rendered piano solo by l'Iric/ Dow- ling. who responded to a Very hear- ty emore, solo-i by Dr. Murray and Mr. H. W. Littlejohns. and a quar- tette by Mrs. (J. N. Richardson. Mrs. Joseph Blackburn. .\lr. Holland and Dr. .‘lurray. Mr. Heorge Mitchell iresided. .‘iotwithstflndini.r lh‘.‘ linding storm the prtxfeeds were 5556. There was a good representation from here at the Conservative con- vention at Durham on Friday last.
