On his trying to take some liberties the girl got out of the front seat of the car on the Oliphant road but was persuaded to climb into the back on being assured that he would behave and drive her home. McKenzie step- ped on the gas and the rar sped mer- rily along. but on reaching a fork in the road where the girl should have left the ear to rross over to her home a few rods distant, he, instead of stopping. is said to have fed more gas with the result that it hopped by the spot and tore up the highway in a eloud of dust. Seeing her self be- ing sped away the girl. after being carried at mile or so further up the road leaped out and badly cut, the bark of her head and brazed shoul- ders in rrashing against. the stones on the roadside. With the blood streaming from her wounds she was found staggering about. in a dazed rendition by a party of Owen Sound young men.
