- A black and white photograph of Myrtle Store and Post Office.A black and white photograph of Brown and Briggs’ General Store. To the right of the photograph is a residential house. There are several people in this photograph. David and Emma Brown, Jennie and Irvin Brown (sitting on veranda), Bill Derby (in buggy), D.L. William (standing in buggy), David Briggs (with paper in hand), Hanna Wells (standing with an unidentified boy), Ida Scurrah and Bill Parks.
- Notes
- This general store was located on the north-west corner of Highway 12 and the 9th Concession of Whitby Township. It was operated by David A. Brown and David L. Briggs. The store opened in 1873. David L. Briggs left the partnership in 1884. About 1889 the store building was destroyed by fire. The house to the right of the store remains standing today.
