Lafayette was the son of John Johnston and wife Phoebe Jane nee Littleproud. In turn John's father was George Young Johnston and mother was Eleanor Ann nee Silver .George's parents were Andrew T Johnston and Maria( possibly Young/Jung-still researching at this time/2010) of Whitby Ont.
Layfayette Johnston died on 27 April 1920. On his death certificate, the doctor noted that the primary cause of death was "gassed in France", with the contributory cause as "pulmonary tuberculosis"
