- A black and white photograph of Lafayette Johnston. This photograph was on the front of the third leaf of Alex Brown's album and located in the bottom right pocket. This leaf had 4 pockets for photos on each side. In the top left pocket was a photo of Nat Neill. The top right photo was of William Wilkinson. At bottom left is Pte. James Palmer and bottom right Lafayette Johnston.

- Alex Brown is a local Whitby area veteran. He is a member of the Royal Canadian Legion.
According to the Canadian Virtual War Memorial site, Private Lafayette Johnston was son of Mrs. John Johnston, of 555, Albert St., Oshawa, Ontario. He was a member of the 19th Battalion, a division of the Canadian Infantry (Central Ontario Regiment), a unit of the army. He died on March 27, 1920 and was interred at Kendall's Cemetery, Ontario, Canada. He is commemorated on Page 550 of the First World War Book of Remembrance. - Inscriptions
