Canada is known as a hockey country and Whitby is known as a hockey town. Teams at all levels have enjoyed many successful seasons and won several championships. The Whitby Senior Hockey Team had a stellar year in 1895/96 with a record of eleven wins and three losses.
Whitby Girls Hockey Team at Haileybury
Details
In 1909 the junior hockey team from the Whitby Amateur Athletic Association were the winners of group number 3 in the Ontario Hockey Association. On February 26, 1914 the Whitby Ladies defeated the Ingersoll Ladies with a score of 6-0 to take the Championship of Ontario.
Charlie Chaplins Hockey Team
Details
In 1920, the Charlie Chaplins were the winners of the Whitby Town League. Whitby has had many successful, winning hockey teams, but for all of the championships that Whitby has won, one stands out in the history of Whitby - the 1958 World Champion Whitby Dunlops.
