A number of cartoons include Oakville in the larger political landscapes of Ontario and Canada, but there are also some in this collection that focus on the Town specifically. Every municipality has aspects that make it a good subject for an editorial cartoonist, and Oakville is no exception.
"Oakville’s not much different from most large towns. You’ve got politicians, you’ve got residents. Politics. You’ve got controversies. All of this stuff makes for good cartoons. We had some good municipal elections, mayoralty races. And Oakville was a rapidly growing town at that time. It was a beautiful, small lakeside community and one day, all of sudden, it was developing so fast that people started to say we were losing our identity. So there was always controversy."
Oakville's affluence proves to be a good subject for playful satire
