At Work - In the Field
A horse drawn sleigh loaded with gear and slain deer
DetailsDogs, especially those of the sporting breeds such as spaniels, retrievers, as well as hounds and beagles, assisted hunters in their quest. The dogs enjoyed the hard work and tracking that was expected of them. Horses, often large draft horses, moved gear and game back from the hunting camps. Horses also transported heavy loads of lumber and machinery and ploughed snow from roads and laneways.
