The “war to end all wars” was not to be. World War II, 1939-45, claimed more local lives. They were added to the south face of the Castleton memorial under the engraved words “In Memory Of Those Who Paid The Supreme Sacrifice In World War II”.
The six listed names are: Private John E. Bertrand Age 23 Years; Private George R. Pomeroy Age 26 years; Police Officer Lloyd G. Bishop Age 22 years; Flight Sergeant Clarence A. Massey Age 23 years; Tactical Reconnaissance Reginald C. Mutton Age 27 years; and Police Officer Francis Age 20 years
