Edville, which had earlier been known as Sharon, first appeared in directories and gazetteers in 1899. This small town, approximately halfway between Colborne and Brighton, enjoyed a daily stage to the former. Only the name of William Barrett, a blacksmith and postmaster, appeared in the three references located to date in the directories and gazetteers.
