Not many of Hugh A. Ross's photographs have been located so far, but the few that have surfaced show the fine quality of his work. According to the 1924 advertisement above Ross offerred a unique and convenient option of taking photographs at people's homes. For those customers who wanted a studio portrait they visited Ross at his Beckwith Street address.

Ross also worked as the town photographer during this time period. In 1924 The Record News published Who's Who in Smiths Falls and credited the majority of the photographs in this publication to Ross.
