Details
J.B.Morgan built Midway Lumber Mill in 1948 in Sherwood, Thessalon Township. It was the first major sawmill to be established in the area after the void created by the closure of the last Crane mill in 1939.
With increased access to resources, Mr. Morgan went on to build the Birchland Veneer Plant on part of the original Saginaw Mill site in 1948. In 1980 Birchwood Lumber Co. was added to the family business. All three businesses still operate in 2010.
