Colborne Railroad Stations
The End of the Line
Vinton M. Merriman at Grand Truck Railway Station / Canadian National Railway Station demolition site, Colborne, 1972
DetailsSome 19th century Ontario train stations survive as cultural, residential, or commercial buildings. Many other train stations, however, have been demolished and, unfortunately, such is the case with Colborne's. Vinton M. Merriman is pictured here at the 1972 demolition of the Canadian National (CN) station (originally the Grand Truck station). The Canadian Northern station was levelled in 1933, and, Colborne's last surviving train station, the Canadian Pacific met the same fate in 1979.
