Victoria Square provided visitors with both a place to rest and a place to reflect. The fountain and surrounding plantings were installed at the turn of the 20th century as a park feature. The statue of a lone soldier memorializes World War I (1914-1918) and the cannon recognizes the members of the community who served in Canada's military.
