You've Got Mail! : A History of the Whitby Post Office
The Township of Whitby Post Offices
Prior to the establishment of the County Town of Whitby in 1852, there were other smaller communities in the surrounding area that eventually were amalgamated into the Township. Each of these communities would have their own post offices, separate from the Whitby Post Office. These smaller community post offices were located in Port Whitby, Brooklin, Myrtle Station and Ashburn.
