After 1981, Canada Post became the primary contractor for delivering and receiving mail all across Canada.
Today, there are many post offices throughout Whitby, located in both stand alone buildings and inside businesses. The days of small community post offices would eventually become obsolete in the modern day, but still exist in some rural Canadian communities.
After the old post office was demolished in 1959, an new Canada Post Office moved to the northeast corner of Dundas and Perry Streets and then move again to 209 Dundas Street East, where it remains to this day.
